Samples workshop- very hungry caterpillar

Once, a few years ago I went to the V and A and brought a set of prints by Eric Carle, better known for his illistrations of The Very Hungry Caterpillar- apparently it's supposed to be George Bush's favourite book, which honestly doesn't suprise me. Anyway I kept meaning to get them framed and put them away in a draw.

After a few warm up drawing exercises we used them as a starting point for Saturdays workshop. Which was all about sketchbooks and inspiration.

We used Brusho pigments watered down to colour the pages and then started exercises to paint papers with acrylics, cut them up and reconfigure.

I really enjoyed seeing the colours fizz and pop when put next to each other. Its an excellent opportunity to discuss colour theory as the group get to experience it in such a straight forward way.
